Tacos and Tunes For the Cure in Austin

Eat tacos for the good of Austin's women.

Tacos! Music! Breasts!  What’s not to support, Austin?!  The Komen Race for the Cure team, In Mammory of Mom has teamed up with the yummy local establishment of Torchy’s Tacos, among others to bring you “Tacos and Tunes” this Friday, Oct. 1st.

The Susan B Komen Race for the Cure works to… you guessed it, find a cure for breast cancer.   More specifically, it is the world’s largest breast cancer organization, having invested more than a billion dollars towards breast cancer research, screening and treatment programs. It’s also the largest global grassroots network of breast cancer survivors and activists working together for a common goal.

According to their website, “Up to 75 percent of the Austin Affiliate’s net income goes toward funding grants to local hospitals and community organizations that provide breast health education and breast cancer screening and treatment programs for medically underserved women. The remaining net income (a minimum of 25 percent) supports the national Susan G. Komen for the Cure® Grants Program, which funds groundbreaking breast cancer research, meritorious awards and educational and scientific programs around the world.”

With a worthy cause, great food, good music, and a silent auction, there’s really no reason to not come.  Help In Mammory of Mom raise money at the South Austin Trailer Park and Eatery at 1311 South First.  Juan and the Zeros and Bright Lights Duet will be providing the tunes and 10% of all food sales will go to the Komen Austin Race for the Cure which as we learned, gives the money directly back to Austin women.  So bring the family, bring the beer, and do your part in making sure Austin’s women keep their breasts healthy by  eating some tacos.  It doesn’t get any easier to score some karma points than this, folks.
