For a easygoing, easy-laughs show with a bit of murder mystery, there’s nothing like USA’s hit show Psych.

There were 4 things to note after the show ended:

(1) Cary Elwes’s return as Despereaux marks the character as the only other criminal outside of the Yin/Yang pair to return for a second episode.

(2) There are no moments in which the TV-show-makers easily point out the clue with a trademark shine and “ding”

(3) USA is introducing a little website fun: as you may or may not have noticed, Shawn has a habit of gifting pineapples or mention pineapples (i.e. as a baby gift to Chief Vick, as an introductory gift to the stress helpline, etc.); playing on this, the network has introduced a game of “Spot the Pineapple;” if you do spot it,  you can text or go to the website to win a prize

(4) An odd character profile for Juliet O’Hara in the commercial section before resuming the show.

The spoof that USA gives for their episode, titled “Extradition II” is as follows

“Shawn (James Roday) and Gus (Dulé Hill) return to Vancouver to visit their old nemesis Despereux (guest star Cary Elwes) in prison at the felon’s request, who then uses them to escape and pull one last job before he is extradited to the United States.  Only while he is out, he is framed for the murder of a Crown Attorney and now asks the guys for help clearing his name of this most recent – and frankly unseemly – charge.”

As always, there’s plenty of references (one oddly to Ashlee Simpson) and hilarity to be had. If anyone is wondering, the song at the end of the episode background to Juliet and Shawn’s talk is Elvis’s “Such Thing.”

Next Wednesday’s episode, weirdly enough, seems a little late and perfectly themed for Halloween. Still, it will most likely prove to be funny.
