Spongebob Squarepants in Macy's Thanksgiving Parade

The 84th Annual Macy’s Thanksgiving Parade is a long-running holiday tradition for many Americans.  Join 50 million people this Thanksgiving to watch the parade hosted by TODAY‘s Matt Lauer, Meredith Viera and Al Roker. The three hour extravaganza begins at 9AM to goes until 12 PM. 

Here is a comprehensive line-up of Macy’s 2010 Thanksgiving Parade:

To honor their motto of “A Holiday Treat for Children Everywhere”, two new balloons have been added to the parade this year: Diary of a Wimpy Kid and Kung Fu Panda. Returning balloons include many kid favorites: Buzz Lightyear, Horton, Kermit the Frog, Hello Kitty, Pikachu, Sailor Mickey, Shrek, Smurf, Snoopy as the Flying Ace, Spider-Man, and SpongeBob SquarePants.

Many stars from music, stage, and screen will perform at Macy’s famed red star mark on 34th Street:

  • Gloriana
  • India Arie
  • Jimmy Fallon and The Roots
  • Mannheim Steamroller
  • Radio City Rockettes
  • Keri Hilson
  • Michael Grimm
  • Kylie Monogue
  • Big Time Rush
  • Macy Gray
  • Jessica Simpson
  • Kanye West

There will be 27 spectacular floats including 7 new ones:  Dora’s Christmas Carol Adventure, Elves Raise the Roof, Home Baked Goodness, Mount Rushmore’s American Pride, On the Roll Again (featuring a family of ducks), Snow Queen, and the legendary stage of Top Hat!  

High school bands chosen to represent their home state this year are:  Blue Springs High School from Blue Springs, MO; Eastern High School from Middleton, KY; Grants Pass High School from Grants Pass, OR; Green Valley High School from Henderson, NV; Lassiter High School from Marietta, GA; Seminole High School from Seminole, FL; Waukesha North High School from Waukesha, WI; and Macy’s Great American Marching Band featuring students from all fifty states. * The Latin marching band “Pedro Molina”, from Guatemala, will make their New York debut.

From cheerleaders to a Bollywood, this year’s parade will also showcase a host of unique performers:  The Arya Dance Company, Big Apple Circus, Spirit of America Dance, Stage Door Manor, Stepper-ettes, Tap City Youth Ensemble, US Pizza Team, Varsity Spirit Cheer and The Young Americans.

Every year the parade concludes with Santa and his big sleigh of presents. His arrival ushers in the 2010 Christmas season.
