Xeriscape ‘Tron’ ‘Master Control’ Holiday Party December 16 at Royal/T

1
Los Angeles deep house and techno label Xeriscape Records and promotion crews Jel-o and Love Fix will present “Master Control,” a Tron-themed holiday party December 16 at Royal/T in Culver City, 8910 Washington Blvd, Culver City 90232. The cover is $5.

The Christmas event will feature Xeriscape’s live deep house band Biolectric with DJ Viktor Carrillo, plus DJ sets by Xavier de Enciso (Love Fix), Daniel Satta (Xeriscape) and Evan Rhodes (Jel-o).

Also, through December 23, Disney Consumer Products has a special Tron Pop-Up Shop at Royal/T featuring merchandise including collectibles, eyewear, clothes and jewelry. Plus, the venue’s restaurant is  serving a Tron-inspired menu including a Lightcycle Sushi and Identity Disk Cake. Both the shop and kitchen will be open until 11 p.m. for the party. Tron:Legacy, the long-awaited sequel, hits theaters all over the country December 17.

“When Royal T asked us to play in December and said the Tron pop-up was there, we jumped at it,” said Xeriscape label head John von Seggern. “We have been fans of Tron since the first film and are thrilled to theme our Christmas party with it. We hope this unofficial celebration will help people get excited for the film, which opens the next day.”

Biolectric is Von Saggern laying down bass grooves with noted local musicians Matt Piper and Koorosh Daryaie, and DJ/labelmates Viktor Carrillo and Daniel Satta. The band received acclaim earlier this year for its remix of Satta’s “Cold Flamenco.”

Carrillo has built a following this year, appearing at numerous Droid Behavior events, Love Fix parties and running the successful underground after hours party Secret Cinema.  Berlin transplant Daniel Satta scored in 2010 with his singles “Cold Flemenco” and “Beacon.” “Beacon” was Xeriscape’s first vinyl pressing and was old out by the end of Satta’s successful German tour.

A longtime fixture of LA’s electronic music scene, Xavier de Enciso has DJed at and promoted parties of all sizes, from lofts to sports arenas and everything in between, playing with legends of dance music. He is currently the resident and architect of LOVE FIX, an LA event promotion collective dedicated to fostering an underground community, creating space, and dance. He’s also recognized as being a promoter/DJ turned scholar of his trade, since completing his Masters degree in sociology, and writing his thesis on LA’s rave scene during the 1990s from a Chicano perspective.

Evan Rhodes started DJing as a teenager in Detroit, honing his skills,  then spent time in San Francisco where he picked up a residency at the legendary Sunday Mass at the End Up before moving to Nicaragua to produce and DJ where he’s become one of the most popular DJs. He is just now moving back to the states so “Master Control” will be his first LA appearance.  He is the newest JEL-O resident here in LA.  His latest release, on Tango with Greg Yuen, is “The Feel EP” and he has released numerous other tracks with labels including Motion Music, Viva, Shakin Music, Photo, Bumpshop, 5280, Allhousemusic, Flattpack Trax, and Bluefields Sound System.

Royal/T is a creative collision of spaces, with a cafe, shop and art space.  Details are online at www.royal-t.org/
