Axl Rose could be talking to Gun Shy Assassin, but for some reason, he’s giving interviews to dudes in the Middle East. He spoke to Gulf News, which is based out of the United Arab Emirates, because Guns played a gig over there December 16.
And yes, Axl was asked about the current incarnation of Guns N’ Roses. Not whether the original version will ever get back together, but about this current hired-guns version of Guns.
“For me, one of the really cool things is I don’t have to get on at everybody in the band,” Axl said…I think. “‘Hey, do this, do that,’ you know. Because they’re excited. Everybody takes a certain amount of pride in what they do. Plus they all get on at each other about it anyway. Everybody goes out there and tries to give everything they can. And we stay out there a couple hours more, you know, until we feel the crowd is happy. Or until we feel like we’ve done a good job. It’s kinda like going to the gym or something, you know, you don’t leave until you feel like you’re supposed to.”
And by that logic, you don’t show up until you feel like you’re supposed to. I guess. And by the same logic, I guess what Axl is saying here is, he had to ride the other dudes in the old Guns to make anything happen. But now, his current band lives in constant fear of him, so they fucking exude enthusiasm for the gig. The rest of the interview was rather drab; Axl didn’t say anything worth repeating. But allow me to repeat this: Axl, Gun Shy wants an interview. A real interview. Let’s make this happen.
