Hewlett-Packard to Put Mind Control in Their PCs

The guys at Hewlett-Packard take seriously the word invent in their logo.

“The next revolution of the HP PCs will be mind control” predicted the worldwide marketing manager for Hewlett-Packard, Xavier Lauwaert at CES 2011, during a panel discussion about the future of user interfaces. Ferrari engineers would probably agree with him.

Contrarily, during the same user-interface panel Sony Computer Entertainment senior researcher Richard Marks said that mind control has too much limitations. He believes that future user interface will include a combination of buttons and motion/touch-sensing, depending on the applications.

“There’s a lot of interfaces that make the application better because the interface is a part of it” said Marks, who works specifically on Sony’s PlayStation console.

Let’s hope HP knows something that Sony doesn’t!
