Mike Portnoy Starts New Project With Symphony X Frontman
In a recent Twitter update, former Avenged Sevenfold fill-in drummer and — more importantly — former kitman for progressive metal luminaries Dream Theater Mike Portnoy revealed that he’s got a new project he’s working on.
Oh, and this new project features Symphony X frontman Russell Allen. Phat!
And by phat, I meant fat.
“VERY excited about a new project I’m working on [with] one my [favorite] singers in the world: my bro, Sir Russell Allen,” Mike Tweeted, adding, “Wait ’till you hear this shit!!!” I don’t like listening to shit, though.
Of course, Portnoy quit Dream Theater this summer, out of nowhere. He tried to get back in, but they said, “Oh, hell no!” Since then, Mike’s been working with Deep Purple’s Steve Morse, Dixie Dregs’ Dave LaRue, Transatlantic Neal Morse, and Casey McPherson. The band still has no name and will issue its debut album later this year.
