Yes, I am aware that Dredg — the focus of a recent Gun Shy Interview — is not a metal band, but as I have said before, they are probably one of the greatest bands to have emerged in the last two decades. They’ve released magic after every time they’ve gotten together in a studio, and I am sure they will only produce an even more amazing LP considering they worked with Dan The Automator on their forthcoming album, which now has a name.
According to Dredg’s Facebook page, they’ve christened this next set Chuckles & Mr. Squeezy. The band also posted a sexy and at the same time frightening image that I am hoping is the cover of the opus.
You know, if it were any other band, I’d rip them to shreds for an album title like that. But it’s Dredg, and that title excites me. Like baseball season excites me and besting my foes excites me. Like the sight of my girlfriend from across a room excites me. I’m excited.
The album will be out on May 3 in the United States, and a week earlier all over the rest of the globe. The band are planning an extensive world tour in support of the disc, and those details should surface soon.
