So, I’m not at SXSW. Never been to SXSW. But I hear it’s a fucking great time…like CMJ circa 1999, only with better weather and more hotel room parties. All week, I’ve been reading all of my Facebook friends’ SXSW updates and seeing their pictures. They all seem to be having a stellar time. Wish I was there. I have SXSW envy. Instead, I’m spending this week at the NXNE festival…just me, in my apartment, playing the Amon Amarth record over and over again.

The SXSW folks got to see the new Mars Volta side project T.R.A.M. perform their first-ever live gig last night, and there’s a video of one live track after the jump. T.R.A.M. features Adrian Terrazas of the Mars Volta, Animals As Leaders guitarists Javier Reyes and Tosin Abasi and Suicidal Tendencies drummer Eric Moore.

Check out this live tune from the band and let us know what you think. Sorta reminds me of a harder version of Morphine, sans the vocals. T.R.A.M.‘s debut, Lingua Franca, is expected to drop this May through Sumerian.
