This, according to renowned Brazilian journalist Ancelmo Gois, who publishes a column at influential newspaper O Globo. Blabbermouth picked up his piece about Guns N’ Roses more than likely performing at this year’s Rock In Rio festival [Edit: This news has since been confirmed and the band is playing the fest].
According to the article, Roberto Medina, the event’s organizer, allegedly spoke last week with the band’s frontman, Axl Rose, and is expected to announce GN’R’s participation in the festival later today.
You know, it wouldn’t be the first time GN’R played Rock In Rio; the band performed at the second and third editions of the festival, in 1991 and 2001, respectively.
The 2011 Rock In Rio festival is set to take place September 23 through October 2 in Olympic Park, Barra da Tijuca/Rio de Janeiro, Brazil. So far, several bands hve been confirmed for the big show, including Angra, Coheed and Cambria, Metallica, Sepultura, and Slipknot.
So now, you have potentially two reasons to go to Rock In Rio: Guns N’ Roses and scantily-clad, hot-ass Brazilian chicks who’re looking for an in to the United States.
