This Is The Cover Art For The New Queensrÿche LP
And it kind of reminds me of what Dillinger Escape Plan did with Miss Machine, no? Anyways — yes, that is the album art for the forthcoming disc from Seattle progressive rock troupe Queensrÿche. Yes…Queensrÿche.
Queensrÿche’s twelfth studio album, Dedicated To Chaos, on June 28 in North America via Loud & Proud Records, a Roadrunner Records imprint that focuses on “established artists.” Established, huh? I guess that’s just a polite way of saying “old.” I happen to like old Queensrÿche. But not sure how eager I am to hear the new stuff.
Lead singer Geoff Tate has said that the record is “very contemporary. Empire was a record of the time. Rock music was really the music of the times in 1990. Unfortunately, rock music isn’t the music of the times anymore — it’s very underground. What we’re doing with this record is we’re taking the Empire song structure, in a sense, where it’s very strong songs, very melodic, but we kind of restructured the rhythm section…[making] it very contemporary-sounding.”
Way to sell the new record, Geoff! Why can’t you just say “It’s the best thing we’ve ever done” or “the heaviest thing we’ve ever done” like every other band.
