Kiss Track Five Songs For New Album

Paul Stanley in the studio
Kiss — who have been in a recording studio since April 13, working on the follow-up to 2009’s Sonic Boom — have already track five songs for their new disc, which should be out later this year.

Tommy Thayer is adding his lead guitar parts to the five songs right now. Like, literally — right now, as you read these words, he’s probably tracking his guitar parts.

That there is a picture of Paul Stanley in the studio, if you couldn’t tell. Stanley has said that the new album “leaves Sonic Boom in the dust.” That wouldn’t be too difficult.

Last month, Gene Simmons said in an interview that “the new record, which we already started working on, is gonna be the next step to Sonic Boom. Very similar — straight rock songs, no ballads, no keyboards, no nothing, just rock…A lot of the songs [have been] written by the whole band together, so no outside writers, just the band doing what it did on the first three records — writing the songs ourselves. We have almost all the songs written. In fact, we have too many songs; we have about 20 to 25 things that look and sound good.”
