Former Guns N’ Roses and recent Velvet Revolver bassist and current Loaded frontman Duff McKagan is smart. Like someone else I know. He thinks “Celebrity Rehab” is fucking whack. This, I know because of the Classic Rock Examiner. Duff’s classic rock now. Weird.
When asked if he thinks the show hurts more than helps folks like his former band mate and buddy Steven Adler, Duff said “Yes. Absolutely. And the same with [Alice In Chains bassist] Mike Starr. I cringe, I think it’s the worst thing for so-called sobriety. ‘Hold on, we’re having a breakthrough…Wait, we’ve gotta do makeup.’ You know?”
Do I? I don’t, actually. “There’s a reason it’s anonymous, because if you fail, you’re failing on camera,” Duff added. “You’re failing after you’ve been on this rehab show.”
Duff has been sober for some time now. Loaded’s new album, The Taking, is available now. Right on, Duff.
