OK, so I wasn’t at the Big Four show last week in California, but you can bet your bottom dollar I will not be missing the just-announced Big Four show, planned for Yankee Stadium — the ballpark of my favorite baseball team.
Yankee Stadium is awesome, and I think the choice of venue for the East Coast’s first — and maybe only — Big Four date is perfect, Imagine seeing Metallica, Slayer, Anthrax, and Megadeth inside the stadium that’s right next door to the vacant lot where the House that Ruth built once sat. The new Yankee Stadium is not the house that Ruth built. I’m sorry — you can’t call it that anymore, folks.
The Big Four will perform in Yankee Stadium in The Bronx, New York, on September 14, 2011.
“We can’t wait for a night in the Bronx as our second American show and for those of you who love fun facts, this will also be the second live music event hosted at the new ballpark,” said Metallica in a statement.
All seats are reserved for this show and tickets go on sale Friday, May 6 at 10:00 a.m. via Ticketmaster.com. MetClub members should log in for more information about a special pre-sale starting on Wednesday, May 4. Yankees season ticket holders will have their own pre-sale, also on May 4, starting at noon.
It’s times like this I wish I was a Yanks season ticket holder.
The Big Four show will be only the second musical performance staged at the new Yankee Stadium, following a concert last year by Jay-Z and Eminem.
