As far as I’m concerned, the Deftones should play every Chi Cheng benefit show…I know there have been some in the past they skipped or couldn’t make, but I am sure the shows the Deftones do play make more money for their fallen bassist.
The Deftones are actually organizing another benefit event for Cheng, who is still recovering from brain trauma he sustained in a 2008 car accident — the news of which broke the same night the president was elected.
The new benefit show will take place at the Ace Of Spades in Sacramento, California, on June 14 with all proceeds going to the Chi Ling Cheng Special Needs Trust.
Back in March, Cheng was transported to New Jersey to be under the direct care of The International Brain Research Foundation. According to recent updates, Cheng is showing signs of progress.
Sadly though, his recovery is taking some time. The concert’s ticket sales will help raise money towards the $500,000 goal Cheng’s family has set for Chi’s care. So far this year, the fund has only raised $18,000. You can help by visiting this web site.
