Slayer Putting New Album On Hold As Guitarist Recovers

Jeff Hanneman
That’s fitting. I mean, Jeff Hanneman is still recouping from necrotizing fasciitis, a flesh-eating bacteria he likely contracted from a spider bite. I don’t see them having much of a choice. People want to hear new Slayer with Jeff’s influence in there, so…makes sense.

Slayer’s Tom Araya tells the band will not return to the studio until Hanneman has fully recovered. I mean, what was the other option? The rest of Slayer should concentrate on coming up with riffs and shit, and wait for Jeff to heal.

“There’s no way we’d go into a studio without him,” Araya says. “As a band we’re not going to do something without him. He’s an integral part of the band. We require his musical skills, his writing skills. He’s an integral part of the band. So we’re going to hold off until he’s at 100 percent and can join that process and be part of it.”

We hope Jeff recovers soon, so Slayer can get in that studio and churn out another album that won’t make our top ten list the year it comes out.
