According to Blabbermouth, RockAAA spoke with Anthrax’s Scott Ian at the Download Festival at Donington Park in Leicestershire, United Kingdom, over the weekend and asked the dude what fans in New York, who may have caught the California or European Big Four shows, could expect when the bands — Anthrax, Metallica, Megadeth, and Slayer — rock the house that Ruth built.
Like, will they do the same old show, or will it be special?
“I did have a talk with Lars [Ulrich] about something for the Yankee Stadium show [in New York City] in September… We talked about doing something different at the Yankee Stadum.”
You should. It is Yankee Stadium, after all. Not just some dumb camp site. And it is New York. Do something special. Have Chuck D. out. Or not.
“It’s great getting up and doing [Diamond Head’s] ‘Am I Evil?’ but we’re on stage for, like, two and a half minutes, and we all wanna be up there longer. So we’re not gonna play the full ‘Am I Evil?,’ because then it’s just too much, but we talked about some other things to do that will enable us to all be up there and enjoy that time for a bit longer.”
Scott Ian is not touring in July with Anthrax as he and his wife are expecting a child.
I think the “something different” he refers to is that Scott’s finally going to appear on stage without that funky goatee. His new kid’s just going to yank it out anyways, so he may shave it. But that’s just a wish, really.
