The members of metalcore band The Dream Is Dead are mourning the loss of guitarist Jared Southwick, who has died at the age of 34 from “a liver and kidney condition” for which he was recently hospitalized.
The band issued this statement earlier this month: “We just want to confirm that our guitar player Jared is indeed gravely ill right now at a hospital in Muncie with a liver and kidney condition (and all the complications that come with it). Thanks everyone for all of your concern, kind words, and visits. We know that he and his family appreciate it. Please keep him in your thoughts.”
Southwick’s condition apparently worsened and he died Tuesday (June 21) evening at the age of 34. His funeral will be held on Saturday at the First Presbyterian Church on Riverside Avenue in Muncie, Indiana.
The band has revealed they will play their final show The Dream Is Dead at this year’s Dude Fest. Carl Byers will be filling in for Southwick, who was also a member of Indiana death metal band Harakiri.
