At least the guitars will be.
Lately, I have been Skyping a whole lot with my buddy Jason Suecof, who has been recording guitars as of late for Charred Walls of the Damned’s forthcoming sophomore LP. Jason, metal’s producer du jour, has been playing me bits and pieces of the album, and all I can say is, the guitars and Richard Christy’s drum work are phenomenal.
The first Charred Walls of the Damned record was good. I just didn’t really dig the vocals — at all. But from what Jason’s been playing me, the album’s sounding like a real winner.
Some of the solos Suecof’s recorded for this LP had me in shock; I’ve always regretted not learning guitar, and after hearing some of these solos, it only makes me wish I could play like Suecof.
To be honest, when I first heard Charred Walls was working on a second record, my initial reaction was, “Why?” That first album was decent, but it didn’t fondly my grundle, if you know what I’m saying.
But after hearing some parts of the disc, I’m actually looking forward to blasting this thing all around town, as I drive in my piece of shit SUV to this place and that. The solos, man — it’s all about the solos.
Charred Walls of the Damned’s forthcoming album will be in stores in October.
