As Hell Retreats
As Hell Retreats have given Metal Injection an exclusive look at their new video for the track “Matriarch.” The band’s new album, Volition, is now in stores.

You can catch As Hell Retreats on this year’s Scream The Prayer tour along sides Norma Jean, Sleeping Giant, The Chariot and more.

The concept of the new video was inspired by frontman Jackson Greene’s personal struggle with the loss of his mother (sorry dude), and his quest for truth through suffering, says Metal Injection.

“Matriarch” begins with a young man trying to catch up to a seemingly younger version of his mother — but alas, he never gets to her. He follows her through the woods, until he comes upon a wooden chest.

Dude opens the chest and finds a picture of himself and his mother from when he was a child, as well as other childhood items. The last shot shows the girl disappearing into the chest and then she is gone forever.
Fucking deep, dude. That’s rough stuff. Not a feel-good video, I’m afraid.
