Soundgarden, Mastodon Announce Two Texas Gigs
The first time I heard Soundgarden was…fuck — a very long time ago. And ever since, Soundgarden has been one of those bands that, for me, have always been there. I can rock Soundgarden any time, no matter what the occasion.
I was in a car accident once and “Day I Tried To Live” was playing the moment it happened. The moment of impact, if you will. One of the first on-camera interviews I did at MTV News was Chris Cornell, just before the second Audioslave album came out. I was so nervous because it was a first for me, and I was having a conversation with a man whose hair and voice I wish I had, and I was shaking like the new guy in prison. Cornell was like, “Relax, man. It’s cool.” I immediately followed his instructions and chilled the fuck out.
I can’t believe Soundgarden are back and touring — and that I fucking missed them when they rolled through the Tri-State Area. But like I was saying, Soundgarden has always been there. At key points in my life. I even got a hummer once to “Outshined;” it was phat as hell too, people.
Now, after all this touring, Soundgarden and Mastodon have announced two more shows which will go down in October. More tour dates will be coming, I am sure. After all, the Soundgarden train is running full steam, folks.
Soundgarden and Mastodon play Austin, Texas, on October 25 at the Ceder Park Center, and Dallas, Texas, the following evening at the Verizon Theatre.
