Satchel to Play the Crocodile February 2nd
There’s a rad-looking Satchel show coming up soon. Their first show for 2012 will be on Groundhog Day, February 2, at the Crocodile, with Slow Bunny, and Surrealized. Tickets are $10.50, and are available here. Pearl Jam begat Brad, who begat Satchel. That may be inaccurate. The Seattle book of rock history isn’t written yet. [Update: a google search revealed plenty of Seattle rock history books.] Look… if you want to see some great chill-out rock performed by Seattle’s Jedi council of musicians, then this is the show you want to attend. Just take a look at their discography, and the amazing Seattle musicians with whom they are associated.
From Satchel’s website:
They’ve all played music in Seattle for quite a long time; Regan played in Malfunkshun with Kevin and Andrew Wood and he still plays in Brad with Shawn and their friend Stone Gossard. Regan had also started a record label with Stone which was called Loosegroove. Shawn also made music as Pigeonhed with Steve Fisk and they put out albums on the Sub Pop label. When Shawn was not doing Satchel, Brad or Pigeonhed he could often be found touring with The Afghan Whigs as a sort of guest singer and MC and if he’s not doing any of those things you’d find him making music somewhere.
You’ll want to arrive early to this show, so you won’t miss Surrealized’s set. Their music is psychedelic beats and live drums topped with lap steel, banjo, and the amazing voice of Kimo Muraki (also in Slow Bunny). It’s very dance-friendly. Their music is always accompanied by a stunning light show, smoke machines, the works. It’s a good time. This evening’s performance will a night of music that may just reveal the vibrations of the universe.
