A Dash of Fashion: H&M Collaborates with Marni for New Collection Launch


Swedish retailer H&M has recently announced the upcoming debut collaboration with Marni, founded by Consuelo Castiglioni.  Set to hit stores internationally on March 8, 2012, the collection will include skirts, dresses, pants, knits, jewelry, bags, footwear, scarves, and menswear pieces at an affordable price.

The Italian-based label revisits many of its favorite pieces, fabrics, and prints, but also wants to address a younger audience with new combinations of signature prints and hues.  In an interview with In Style, Castiglioni said, “I’m very proud of the result.  Everything has the same level of quality, craft, and attention to detail Marni is known for.”

“It’s great to speak to a wider audience, “Castiglioni adds about the opportunity to work with H&M since it features an eccentric mixture of modern tribal prints and sporty utilitarian elements that can be dressed up or down.

Creative advisor for H&M, Margareta van den Bosch says, “It’s fantastic to see how Consuelo Castiglioni coordinates her designs… The collection will arrive in stores at just the perfect time as the collection will truly prove to be a lovely statement for spring.”

H&M has recently debuted high-end luxury collaborations with famous names like Versace and Jimmy Choo, so meeting with Marni is a natural next step to bring more affordable style to the masses.

Celebrities like Sarah Jessica Parker, Reese Witherspoon, and Anne Hathaway have all been spotted wearing Marni on the red carpet.  For last year’s Met Costume Institute Gala, in the throngs of over-the-top avant-garde fashion, actress Milla Jovovich opted for a shorter cocktail dress designed by Marni.
