The Jenny Packham brand has been made internationally famous because of all the press that follows Duchess of Cambridge, Catherine Middleton, who is a fan of the British designer.  Packham will be following in the footsteps of fellow designers like Marc Jacobs and Alexander McQueen in creating an affordable line called “No. 1 Jenny Packham,” according to Daily Mail. The collection will not only include women’s clothing and accessories, but also children’s fashions, which will be available in the U.K. department store, Debenhams, in April.

Packham’s current luxury designs are hefty in price, ranging in the thousands, but this new line will cost between 85 GBP to 160 GBP ($143 – $253), and won’t be sold in the United States. No. 1 Jenny Packham will be featured in 72 stores in the spring and later in the year, it will expand to another 56 locations.

The line will stay true to Packham’s aesthetic. There will be 19 feminine dresses, including luxe metallic details, bold color blocking, eye-catching graphic and flirty floral prints, Packham’s signature draping, soft fabrics with pleating, and floor-length maxi and organza frocks. The accessories will complement the entire collection and are said to include handbags, jewelry, footwear, and special occasion hair accessories.

Packham shared with Daily Mail her long-standing relationship with the U.K. retailer: “As a young girl I was regularly abandoned in Debenhams Southampton whilst my parents disappeared to search for the latest Teasmade or some other ‘must have’ electrical appliance. During this time I lost myself in the rails of 70’s polyester and dreamt of a life in fashion. Therefore it is only natural that I have chosen Debenhams to launch my first High Street collection. My aim always is to design styles that create glamour and excitement whether it is for the red carpet or a teenage prom. My collaboration with Debenhams is a great opportunity for me to offer my signature style at an attainable price.”

In addition to Middleton, gowns by Packham have been most recently worn by celebrities on stateside red carpets during this awards season, including Angelina Jolie at the Screen Actor’s Guild Awards, Kate Winslet at the 2012 Golden Globes, Vanessa Hudgens at the 2012 People’s Choice Awards, and Kate Beckinsale at the L.A. premiere of Underworld: Awakening.
