Black Sabbath Summer Tour Nixed; Ozzy Will Still Tour
For all you haters who thought Sharon Osbourne fired Bill Ward, now here’s a legitimate reason to be mad at her. While Black Sabbath’s summer tour has been axed, Sharon’s still having jolly old Ozzy getting out there to generate some solid income.
I’ve gotta hand it to her: she knows how to take a bad situation and turn it into money.
The cancellation of Black Sabbath’s summer European touring plans is being blamed on band guitarist Tony Iommi‘s battle with lymphoma.
Instead of Black Sabbath performing, Ozzy Osbourne and “friends” — including usual suspects Zakk Wylde, Slash, and Geezer Butler — will play together on select dates, playing ultra-special sets.
The only show Black Sabbath will play this summer is this year’s annual “Download Festival.” Well, well — doesn’t that make Download a hot ticket then.
“Black Sabbath — who late last year confirmed the recording of their first new album in more than 33 years and a worldwide headlining tour — have had to put some plans on hold due to Tony Iommi’s battle with lymphoma,” the band says.
“So as not to let the promoters and fans down, Ozzy Osbourne will now perform the majority of the previously scheduled Black Sabbath dates (both festival performances and the headlining shows) billed as Ozzy and Friends.”
This is so fucking lame. Either cancel it or don’t. What the fuck, man?
