MC5 Bassist Michael Davis Dies At 68

Bassist Michael Davis, known for his work with influential late 1960s rock band MC5, has died.

Liver failure was cited as the cause of Davis’ death The bassist was 68.

Reports claims Davis had been undergoing treatment for liver disease for about a month before he died at Enloe Medical Center in Chico, California.

This is sad indeed, but not as sad as how bad I am feeling right now. I guess those garlic knots I had for lunch were tainted with e-coli.

Davis was MC5‘s second bass player, replacing Pat Burrows just before the recording of the band’s iconic 1969 album Kick Out The Jams.

Davis left MC5 shortly before the band broke up in 1972 and went on to pursue a career in art.

MC5 reformed in 2004 with Handsome Dick Manitoba replacing original vocalist Rob Tyner, who died in 1991.

Davis is survived by his wife, their three sons, and a daughter from a previous marriage.
