Black Sabbath To Play At Least One U.S. Gig This Summer
Hmm. So, I wonder where it will be? Chicago for Lollapalooza? Atlantic City for that Metallicafest? Bonnaroo? The Voodoo Music Experience? We won’t know for some time, and we won’t know whether Bill Ward will be behind the kit.
But thanks to my pal Dave Basner over at VH1 Radio Networks, we know that Black Sabbath will be playing a single show this summer in the U.S.
Dave — who happens to have a beautiful new baby — cornered Ozzy Osbourne’s wife and manager, Sharon Osbourne, at some event recently, and asked what fans in the states could expect.
“They’re gonna be doing one show in America this summer but I can’t say yet because we can’t announce it, the promoters have to, but they are doing one show in August here together,” says Sharon.
Dave asked if that means Ward would be part of the reunited band’s lineup for the U.S. concert. Sharon offered the following: “We don’t know yet, we really don’t know. It’s up to Bill. The door is open for him to join us, so it’s up to him.”
Black Sabbath continue to work on their new record without Ward in England, where guitarist Tony Iommi is being treated for cancer. No word on whether they are working with another drummer at this time, but they probably are.
