This morning, Metallica’s Lars Ulrich was on Howard Stern, talking about the band’s upcoming Orion Music + More festival in Atlantic City, and something cool happened.
During the conversation, Lars mentioned that Charred Walls of the Damned — the band featuring Stern show player Richard Christy, who is a legendary drummer who was in Death for a spell — would be playing the fest.
Christy had no idea.
“This is the first I am hearing it,” Richard says, as he walked into Studio 69. Stern asked Lars if he was sure. “How many bands out there are called Charred Walls of the Damned?,” Lars asked.
Richard was psyched, and said it was possible; he does have booking managers — “They probably wanted to surprise me,” said Richard.
“Drummer are always the last to know anything,” Lars said, before formally inviting Charred Walls to be part of the festival.
Lars said Charred Walls would be playing the Damage, Inc. Stage.
The fest will also feature Sepultura, Suicidal Tendencies, Torche, Red Fang, Kyng, Black Tusk, Thy Will Be Done, Landmine Marathon, Avenged Sevenfold, Fucked Up, Liturgy, and The Sword.
