Courtesy of the good folks at Warner Home Entertainment, CultureMob is offering a special giveaway for Born to Be Wild on Blu-ray/DVD/UltraViolet Digital Copy combo pack.  For more on this shot-in-IMAX nature documentary, I’ll turn to Warner’s official synopsis.

Narrated by Academy-Award-winner Morgan Freeman, Born to be Wild is an inspiring story of love, dedication, and the remarkable bond between humans and animals. This film documents orphaned orangutans and elephants and the extraordinary people who rescue and raise them—saving endangered species one life at a time. Stunningly captured in IMAX, Born to be Wild is a heartwarming adventure transporting moviegoers into the lush rainforests of Borneo with world-renowned primatologist Dr. Biruté Mary Galdikas and across the rugged Kenyan savannah with celebrated elephant authority Dame Daphne M. Sheldrick, as they and their teams rescue, rehabilitate, and return these incredible animals back to the wild..

Born to be Wild is the best type of family entertainment: smart, exciting, and moving.  While hardcore nature-film nuts may find the film somewhat lacking (at forty-one-minutes, Born to Be Wild covers a lot of ground in a beyond-brisk time frame), I found its focus admirable; director David Lickley is less interested in the science of the wild than he is in engendering your compassion towards his primate and elephant subjects, and he succeeds admirably within the confines of this modest feature.  You really do care about the struggles of Drs. Galdikas and Sheldrick, and that’s no small achievement.  The only downside is that the Blu-ray does not show off the stunning 3D effects (sorry), but the story is so good and the IMAX footage is so sharp, you’ll hardly miss the extra dimension.  Highly recommended.

The Blu-ray itself will give your A/V setup a workout, with its crisp digital picture (cropped slightly from the 1.44:1 IMAX frame to 1.78:1) and energetic 5.1 DTS-HD Master Audio track.  The disc also has six short webisodes that provide further insight into the African conservation movement.

And I have one Blu-ray copy to giveaway.  It’s very simple.  To qualify for the disc, email me at moviegeek123@hotmail.com, put “Born to Be Wild Blu-ray Giveaway” in the email subject line, provide your first and last name, and correctly answer the following question.
