Oh yes, my mountain lions.
Harakiri, the new studio album from System of a Down frontman Serj Tankian — a songwriter, multi-instrumentalist, poet and political activist in his own right — will be in stores July 10.
The disc will be released through Reprise Records and Tankian’s own Serjical Strike.
What’s Harakiri? Oh, well, it’s something super happy.
Harakiri is a Japanese word meaning ritual suicide. AWESOME!
The album follow’s Serj’s 2010 LP Imperfect Harmonies.
I’d rather have a new System of a Down record, if we’re going to but our cards out there on the table.
Serj produced Harakiri himself at his home studio in Los Angeles. He said he tried to approach writing a little differently this time around.
“I used the Apple iPad as a songwriting instrument to sketch out three of the songs on the record,” says Serj. “We must trick ourselves into writing in different ways to get unexpected results.”
