There are many signs that Spring is upon us. The daffodils. The tulips. The birdsong. The sunbathers shivering in their bikinis on Alki Beach.

Our favorite sign of the season is the announcement of the lineups for the summer festivals, however – and among those the Capitol Hill Block Party announcement has to rank among the most interesting. The Block Party may not be the biggest music festival this summer, but the little-fest-that-can has proved over the last few years that sometimes smaller can be better. Not only does it have that unmissable Capitol Hill vibe, but it has attracted some significant talent. From international acts like Thurston Moore and TV on the Radio, to up-and-coming local artists like The Head and the Heart or Champagne Champagne, the Capitol Hill Block Party has it all – and plenty of character too.

There are still lots of acts to be announced for the three-day festival, but this opening volley should be enough to get anyone excited. Local songstress Neko Case tops the bill so far, but with crowdpleasers like Diplo and Fitz & the Tantrums on the list there’s something for everybody. Also watch out for rising stars like Thee Oh Sees and The Lumineers.

Check out the announced acts below (more acts to follow):
