Gwar Getting New Guitarist?
From what I can deduce? Yes.
In a press release sent yesterday, Gwar “has activated certain contingency plans, and the process that will hopefully lead to a new and hellish alignment with some kind of hideous creature, one capable of slaying thousands with JUST ONE NOTE.”
I guess they’re creating some sort of new space alien persona for whoever is brought on board.
Of course, Gwar lost guitarist Cory Smoot last fall; Cory died prematurely, and the band retired his character, Flattus Maximus.
“Needless to say, auditions are not ‘open.’ Gwar is also writing material for their new album, which could be out as early as several thousand years from now,” the press release says.
Gwar have also booked a number of gigs for next month. They’ll be in New York for the Zombie Prom at Irving Plaza on June 9.
That sounds like a hoot! Too bad I’m no owl.
Gwar are also playing June 15 at Lupo’s in Providence, Rhode Island, before heading to Montebello, Quebec, for a June 16 show at the D-Tox Rockfest.
Lastly, they’ll rock the London Concert Theater in London, Ontario, on June 17.
