Well I don’t know about you, but I haven’t gotten enough Neo-Victorian in my ocular diet lately! So the fact that Dorian’s Parlor is back this June 2nd with the Circus means I’m super excited! Ok… no I do not know why it is called “Dorian’s Parlor Welcome to the Circus” this time around either. They haven’t a single lion advertised as showing up! Hopefully the always awesome G. D. Falksen is dressed up as a Ringmaster or something equally entertaining to go along with the theme.
Speaking of fashion I have always enjoyed the fashion shows at Dorian’s. Even if they are not always entirely Neo-Victorian (I can be such a snob sometimes), they are always a visual treat! Kristin Costa is on deck this time around, so we shall see how this will go down! I must say, I like the “Maintain Radio Silence” promo picture on their site.
On the music side of things I see the always awesome Wandering Cellist Mike Lunapiena will be there. Besides his main claim to fame with the cello, he’s a pretty cool person to talk to. Shake his hand, say hi when you meet him! Totally cool. Just not while he’s performing though… that might be a bit rude.
Platform One will be performing too. Their music genre is classified as “Pop: Dark Wave”. Honestly sounds like the name of a new Decepticon but I was just never hip enough for anything popping besides my aching joints and my cola. Now, the musical event I am personally looking forward to is SteamPunkFunk Bizarre. The music is just so incredibly funky and cheesy it just makes me smile whenever I hear it.
Dorian’s Parlor is located at the Doubletree Hotel in Philadelphia right on the corner of Broad and Locust St.
$25 gets you admission, drink ticket, and Hors D’oeuvres.
Remember it’s a 21+ event so leave your kids at home!
