If you’re a fan of British music, indie rock, singer songwriters, modern folk – or just plain old memorable tunes – then we have some good news for you. Brit Award winner Laura Marling is coming to Seattle later this month, on Tuesday June 26th, for a concert at the Showbox at the Market – and you could be there to see just how mindblowingly amazing she really is.
And if you think we’re overselling it, just consider the facts. Marling has collaborated with high profile acts ranging from Ryan Adams to Mumford & Sons; she won Best British Female at the 2011 Brit Awards, and Best Solo Act at the 2011 NME Awards; and her last two albums broke the Top 5 in the UK album charts. Include the fact that she once busked outside her own show, having been denied entry for being underage, and you can see why she’s one of the most intriguing and versatile acts to come out of the UK in years.
We have a pair of tickets to the June 26th show to give away to one lucky reader. All you have to do is leave a comment below, telling us the title of Laura Marling’s debut album, released when she was just 18 (hint: read our preview of her Showbox appearance here). The contest closes at 10pm, Pacific Time, on Friday June 22nd; the winner will be chosen at random from the correct entries, and will contacted by email that weekend to arrange ticket collection.
UPDATE: We’ve been given some more tickets! Your chances of winning have now increased hugely, so make sure you enter before the deadline tomorrow – the winners will be contacted over the weekend!
Laura Marling will perform at Seattle’s Showbox at the Market on Tuesday June 26, 2012. Doors open at 7.00pm, and this is an all ages show; support comes from Willy Mason. Tickets cost $20 in advance from the Showbox website, or $22 on the day.
