I have seen Mary Lambert perform multiple times, both as a musician and as a slam poet, and have always come away thoroughly impressed. She is an accomplished slam poet and has competed around the country at various high-level competitions. She was the 2011 Seattle Poetry Slam grand champion and plans to release her first book of poetry this fall.

In the last few months Mary Lambert’s music career has really heated up since she assisted Seattle hip hop duo Macklemore and Ryan Lewis on their pro gay marriage track ‘Same Love,’ which has quickly gone viral. Her new found recognition sets the stage for her to release her debut EP Letters Don’t Talk. The record is currently available digitally on her Bandcamp, and physical copies will be available at her record release show on August 29th at the Crocodile in Seattle.

Lambert is in the process of setting up a tour to support the record release and rumor has it that she will be performing ‘Same Love’ live at select dates on Macklemore and Ryan Lewis’ upcoming tour.

To find out more about Mary Lambert check out this podcast interview with Ordinary Madness in which she shares some poetry, talks about the recording process for her EP, explains how she came to work on ‘Same Love,’ and discusses her aspirations.
