CultureMob Giveaway: Win TAKEN 2 on Blu-ray/DVD/Digital Copy Combo Pack

Courtesy of the good folks at Twentieth Century Fox Home Entertainment, CultureMob is offering a special giveaway for Taken 2 on Blu-ray.  Rather than summarize the plot of this action-thriller myself, I’ll leave that job to Fox’s official synopsis.

Oscar and BAFTA-nominated actor, Liam Neeson (Clash of the Titans, Taken, Batman Begins) returns as Bryan Mills, the retired CIA agent who stopped at nothing to save his daughter Kim (Maggie Grace, “Lost,” The Twilight Saga: Breaking Dawn) from kidnappers.  When the father (Rade Sherbedgia, X-Men: First Class, Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows) of one of the villains Bryan killed swears revenge and takes him and his wife (Famke Janssen, X-Men franchise, Hansel & Gretel: Witch Hunters) hostage in Istanbul, Bryan must enlist the help of Kim to escape.  Bryan then employs his unique tactics to get his family to safety and systematically take out the kidnappers, one by one.

And I have two copies of the unrated Blu-ray edition to give away.  It’s very simple.  To qualify for the discs, email me at, put “Taken 2 Blu-ray Giveaway” in the email subject line, provide your first and last name, and correctly answer the following question.

  • Star Liam Neeson received an Oscar nomination for which of the following films?
    a) Unknown b) Schindler’s List c) Star Wars: Episode One – The Phantom Menace

Easy-peasy.  I’m going to stop taking entries at 8 PM EST next week on Tuesday, January 15th, so get your answers in before then.  Taken 2 makes its Blu-ray debut on that same date, and Fox Home Entertainment will send out giveaway copies shortly after that date.

Only contestants within the United States and Canada are eligible, and entering the same name under multiple email addresses will get you disqualified.  P.O. box addresses will not be accepted.  If you win the giveaway and send me a P.O. box, you will be disqualified.

Finally, for your reading pleasure, posted below is the “My Dad Can Beat Up Your Dad” feature from Fox.  Enjoy!

He hunted them, he found them, and he killed them; now they have come back to settle the score.  Bryan Mills is one ass-kicking dad, to be sure.  But is he the ultimate?  Take a look at this collection of the most badass dads around and judge for yourself!

Bryan Mills, Taken 2

When the father of one of the villains Bryan killed swears revenge, and takes him and his wife hostage in Istanbul, Bryan then employs his unique tactics to get his family to safety and systematically take out the kidnappers, one by one!

John Quincy Archibald, John Q

Denzel Washington stars as the title character, John Q, a down-on-his luck dad whose insurance won’t cover his son’s heart transplant.  He has no choice but to take the hospital’s entire emergency room hostage.  Despite his aggression, the audience roots for John, who is driven by a father’s love and will stop at nothing until the doctors agree to perform the operation.

John McClane, Die Hard

John McClane (Bruce Willis) is certainly one of the most iconic action heroes of all time, but most forget that he’s also a dad!  When we arrive at the fourth entry to the Die Hard series, Live Free or Die Hard, McClane’s daughter, Lucy, gets taken hostage, and John is not going to back down until she’s safe.  In the fifth installment of the franchise, A Good Day to Die Hard, which hits theaters on February 14th, watch for McClane to team up with his son in order to take down terrorists.

Don Vito Corleone, The Godfather

Who could be a bigger butt-kicking father than the Godfather (Marlon Brando) himself?  He won’t just kick ass in the name of his children, he’ll have you “taken care of” without breaking a sweat.  Throughout the infamous film trilogy, we watch as the Godfather’s successor, his middle son Michael (Al Pacino), takes the reigns and surpasses his father’s legacy, making more unrefusable offers and putting fear into the hearts of men, all for the sake of his family.

President James Marshall, Air Force One

One of the most beloved action stars ever, Harrison Ford stars as the quintessential dad: The President of the United States.  Following a speech that dictates the United States will not noegotiate with terrorists, his family is attacked by assailants aboard Air Force One.  But don’t worry, Mr. President is not going to take this lying down.

Darth Vader, Star Wars

It’s true, not all dads use their powers for good.  Darth Vader, Dark Lord of the Sith, may be the Supreme Commander of the “dark side” and the righthand to its evil emperor, but let’s not forget it was his overwhelming love for wife and family that lead him astray.  Surely his deathbed conversation with his son Luke counts him in the hearts of the good…
