Queens of the Stone Age’s Josh Homme is not a known giver of fucks.
If you’ve ever read interviews with him (I, alas, never got the chance to while at MTV, because James Montgomery had that band on lockdown), the dude couldn’t care less if you’re offended by his opinions.
While it may distance him from some of the record label types when Christmas comes around this year, it doesn’t matter to Queens Of The Stone Age’s mastermind. You ask him about Jay-Z following your appearance at the rapper’s Made In America festival, he’ll tell you the truth.
“Jay-Z, that guy’s a kook,” he told this radio show recently.
“He has his security like frisking the bands [at Made In America]. Well I just told them if you open up my bag I’m not playing, so I guess it’s up to you now to decide whether I am playing or not.”
Fucks given? Zero point zero, people.
“The idea that they frisked all my guys… Means you’re in some different place, where I’m like ‘I don’t get this.’ Who would [have known], no one has ever done that — apparently only a Jay-Z style festival — maybe that’s a hip hop thing, I’ve never seen it.”
Still no fucks given.
“He also gave us some champagne and then wanted us to take a picture with it. I was like, that’s not a gift, that’s a marketing tool. I destroyed it cause I thought it was rude overall and you shouldn’t frisk my guys, you should fuck off.”
Dude…when it comes to giving fucks, Josh Homme would be at the very fucking tail end of any list that attempted to quantify such a thing. He’d be the caboose.
