Guest Column: Three Bands You May Not Know But Should By Felix Martin
We’ve reached out to our metal and hard rock brethren across the land, asking that they contribute prose to our recent series of guest columns. We ran a recent series on Five Albums That Will Change You, and the response was overwhelming.
The topic is Three Bands You May Not Know About But Should, and we asked that each guest writer jot down a brief description of what makes each band worthy of our attention. Today, we are excited to continue this ongoing series with an entry written by guitarist Felix Martin, who has a new album out which you can order here
Kaipa’s song “A Complex Work of Art” is probably the greatest song I have ever heard! The song’s name says it all, it’s got everything on it. I remember the first time I listened to the album Keyholder and that song was on it, it was like a lifetime lesson of art.

I don’t know how known this band is, but man, these guys have a really fresh sound and incredible musical ideas. They are like experimental prog metal but extremely weird. They are really amazing. I recommend their album Grand Opening and Closing.
For me, the hardest thing in music is to find an innovative and fresh sounding singer nowadays, but this french girl breaks all the rules. She makes sounds and uses vocal techniques that you can only hear from her. Probably one of the best singer’s in the world, I recommend all of her albums.
