I kind of figured this was old news, but yeah — Max Cavalera’s got some not-so-nice things to say about Sepultura, who continue to exist despite his absence.
I think the fact that this band continues just pisses him off to now end. Imagine half the bands you like carrying on without two members. Well, you probably can, since most carry on anyways these days.
I miss when bands would call it a day when one person left. Remember the good old days? Let’s talk about them shits.
Should Sepultura have carried on? Probably not, frankly. Not that my frankness has ever been questioned.
But Cavalera tells the cheesily-rendered RockMusicStar.com that “everybody that knows what’s going on [behind the scenes] knows that that band is actually taken hostage by Andreas, by guys that weren’t even there in the beginning. They were not there in the beginning.”
He added that the band was formed by him and his brother.
“Paulo and Derrick are not former band members; they are not original band members. The way I see it, they took the band hostage, and they are just using the name, promoting themselves. But they’re dragging the name down, because they’re getting less and less popular, and I don’t really hear anything good about their records.”
It’s true. The man does not lie.
“So, it’s like, to me, I don’t really care what they do. You know, for me there’s always the classic Sepultura that I love. I think we did some amazing records, but it’s all in the past.”
And speaking of classic Sepultura, let’s now listen to a song from my youth — one you should know.
