So, I’m guessing — since you’re on this site — that you like listening to the heavy stuff. And that’s great, because today, we’re bringing you fine folks a double dose of heavy in the form of a split from two rad bands out of Arizona.

Godhunter’s a band we’ve been keen on for quite some time now, and so when their “people” contacted us about streaming a split they’re releasing with Anakim, we jumped at the chance.

If you dig sludge metal like Eyehategod and Weedeater, you should fucking know of Godhunter, and like them — both in real life and on Facebook — and going forward, you should keep abreast of all of their goings-on.

The split serves as a preview to the band’s impending full-length debut, which has been tracked and will be called City of Dust.

Godhunter’s track, the groove-heavy, low-end bruiser “Vulture’s Wake,” kicks off things, and was recorded and mixed by Ryan Bram at Homewrecker Studios.

Anakim’s sound is a new one to our ears. A doom-laden sound, with decent drum work and some serious jams that gave me something of a contact high.

Their song is the split’s B-side and is called “The Whimper Of Whipped Dogs” — a track recorded and mixed by Mitch Burbidge at Omniversal Studios.

Pressed on blue wax in a one-time run of 300 copies, the split is available for preorders now exclusively through Earsplit Distro, a joint release between Earsplit’s label, The Compound, and Godhunter’s own Battleground Records.

Order it here.
