Metallica Play Antarctica

Lars is cold
You know, I’m starting to think I missed the train to Mars.

I’m fucking drunk as shit writing this. I was at Union Pool in Brooklyn tonight with my buddy Ryan, and started doing Black Tooth Grins in Dime’s honor.

When I am drunk like this, I start thinking about the past.

Specifically, how much I have fucked up, decision-wise. If, tomorrow morning, you hear a blogger killed himself overnight, it was me.

Not that it’d make the news. But, still. I’m bummed.

What is news is Metallica’s first-ever gig earlier today on Antarctica.

That picture shows a chilly Lars Ulrich getting ready to rock out.

Or in between rocking out.

Either way, the pic comes compliments of Facebook.

“This was the most unique show Metallica has ever done,” says the band. “The band, contest winners, research station scientists (from Russia, South Korea, China, Poland, Chile, Brazil and Germany), and the ship crew, all crammed in this little dome out on the helipad of Carlini Station in Antarctica! The energy in the little dome was amazing! Words cannot describe how happy everyone was.”

I think words just did, Metallica. Don’t underestimate yourselves.

Here’s the Antarctica set list:
1. Creeping Death
2. For Whom The Bell Tolls
3. Sad But True
4. Welcome Home (Sanitarium)

5. Master Of Puppets
6. One

7. Blackened

8. Nothing Else Matters

9. Enter Sandman

10. Seek & Destroy
