A smartphone is a mobile phone built on a mobile operating system with more advanced computing capability and connectivity than a feature phone.
The first smartphones combined the functions of a personal digital assistance device (PDA) with a mobile phone. The mobile operating systems (referred to simply as the OS in most cases) used by modern smartphones includes Google’s Android and many variants of it, Apple’s (iOS), Symbian, Blackberry_LTD, Blackberry 10, Samsung’s Bada, Microsoft’s family of systems known as Microsoft Mobile, Hewlett-Packard webOS, and embedded Linux distributions such as Maemo and MeeGo. Such operating systems can be installed on many different phone models, and typically each device can receive multiple OS software updates over its lifetime.
Samsung Galaxy S3 Mini
Designed and manufactured by Samsung, the Galaxy S3 Mini is a touchscreen-based, slate-sized smartphone. This cheap smartphone was released in November, 2012. The Galaxy S III Mini technological specifications include a 4-inch Super AMOLED display, a dual-core processor running at 1 GHz with 1 GB of RAM, a 5-megapixel rear camera, and a front-facing VGA camera for video calls or selfies. It is a smaller version of the Samsung Galaxy S III and contains many of the same features. However, it lacks an 8-megapixel rear camera, bigger 4.8-inch screen and Gorilla Glass display. This device has a 42 h endurance rating. The device initially ran on Android 4.1.1 (Jelly Bean) but has now been updated to 4.1.2. Other features include Samsung’s TouchWiz Skin, ChatON instant messaging, Smart alert, Buddy Photo Share, Pop-Up Play, S Suggest, S Voice, Smart Stay, Video Hub, Game Hub 2.0, and the S Beam technology. The Galaxy S3 Mini shares the off-white colour, chrome border and gently curved shape of its big brother, and there are familiar touches elsewhere: the home button below the screen, the Samsung logo above the panel, and the power button on the right-hand edge all look the same. The removable rear cover is still a flimsy piece of plastic, but there’s little give in the Mini’s 9.9mm-thick chassis. The Mini is powered by a NovaThor U8420 processor, which we haven’t seen in a smartphone before. One area where the low-end specification helps is battery life. The S3 Mini had 70% of its capacity remaining after our 24-hour run-down test. The S3 Mini’s 5-megapixel camera offers good quality, and accurate colors.
Chat ON has basic features which include auto friend registration, text chat and multimedia deliver. It boasts new features as well, which are my page, voice/video chat, and translate. The main function of ChatON is divided into Multimedia, Group Chat, Trunk, and Animation Message. ChatON can send text, picture, video, and audio as multimedia. All the content that has been shared in each chat is saved into a trunk. Animation Message turns simple drawing and stamping into short moving videos.
This Mini Smartphone has much to offer for the price. It generally comes free with a 2 year contract and can cost as little as $15 per month. It has a great value to performance ratio, and to top it all off, has great aesthetic value.
