Galaxy Note 3 Prototype Reached 300Mbps Download Speed
For the sake of the experiment, those from Samsung have collaborated with Qualcomm to create a Galaxy Note 3 prototype on steroids.
Even if the phone is not exactly the one from the above image, the fastest smartphone in the world looked the same. A Galaxy Note 3 was modified to demonstrate the maximum theoretical speed of the LTE Category 6 standard. As it happens, though that model is unique, certainly has sparkled amateurs envy.
Following collaboration between Samsung and Qualcomm, Note 3 was created with a Snapdragon 805 processor, 30-40 % faster than the Snapdragon 800 found in the serial phablet or Galaxy S5. The modem has also been replaced by a 9 × 35 Gobi, twice faster than any commercially available chip until now. Finally, that device version has achieved a speed of 300Mbps on LTE Cat 6 connectivity. It works by merging 20 Mhz bands for a 2x download boost speed for the Cat 4, althought there was note created a Cat 5 yet.
“We’re excited to be working with Samsung across products and technologies to break new ground in enabling customers with the fastest mobile broadband connections worldwide,” said Alex Katouzian, senior vice president of product management, Qualcomm Technologies, Inc.
Besides that the Galaxy Note 3 prototype smartphone will not be commercially available, the LTE Cat 6 connection is also not implemented anywhere at the moment and will probably take a few years until it is. The fastest GSM networks are currently being implemented in South Korea by SK Telecom and those are LTE Cat 4 type.
