For those of you who are considering upgrading their smartphone and have narrowed the options down to HTC One Mini or iPhone 4S, we have made a comparison of specs and prices to help you choose the best option.
Display and Design
The winner of this round is HTC One Mini as it features a wider 4.3 inch Super LCD2 touch screen display that renders a resolution of 720×1280 pixels. iPhone 4S features a smaller 3.5 inch LED-backlit IPS LCD touch screen that renders a lower resolution of only 640×960 pixels.
As for weight and dimensions, HTC One Mini is lighter yet overall bulkier as it weighs 122 grams and measures 132×63.2×9.3 mm. iPhone 4S measures 115.2×58.6×9.3 mm and weighs 140 grams.
Hardware and Operating System
HTC One Mini is powered by a dual core krait 200 processor working at 1.4 GHz and features a Qualcomm Snapdragon 400 chipset. It comes with 1GB of RAM, 16GB of ROM and no microSD slot for additional memory is featured on this device.
iPhone 4S features a dual core cortex A9 processor that works at 1 GHz and features one of Apple’s very own A5 chipset. It comes with only 512MB of RAM but has the advantage of being available for purchase in all 8/16/32/64 GB ROM variants. However, no microSD slot is featured on this device either.
As for operating systems, HTC One Mini comes loaded with Android Jelly Bean, whilst iPhone 4S runs on iOS5, upgradeable to iOS6 and iOS7.
HTC One Mini loses this round as it sports a very basic 4MP primary rear camera with LED flash and autofocus and a 1.6MP secondary camera at the front. iPhone 4S features a much better 8MP primary shooter that comes loaded with similar features and a VGA frontal camera.
HTC One Mini features a non-removable Li-Po 1800 mAh battery, which allows up to 13 hours and 20 minutes of 3G talk-time, whereas iPhone 4S disappoints as it features a non-removable Li-Po 1432 mAh battery, which allows for only 8 hours of 3G talk-time.
