Most of the Google Nexus 10’s reviews are positive, the tablet being praised for its nice design, HD display and fast processor, but it’s criticized for its nonexpendable internal storage. The Sony Xperia Tablet Z is water and dust resistant, very slim and light. It has a display with rich colors and a camera that takes excellent photos. We’ll compare both devices to see which one has more advantages.

Displays and designs

The Google Nexus 10’s display supports a resolution of 2560×1600 pixels, the tablet being equipped with a 10.1 inch Super PLS TFT capacitive touch screen. The Sony Xperia Tablet Z’s display is also 10.1 inches, but it’s a LED-backlit LCD capacitive touch screen that renders a lower resolution, 1200×1920 pixels.

The Google Nexus 10 is weighting 603 grams and measures 263.9×177.6×8.9 mm. The Sony Xperia Tablet Z is a lot lighter, weighting only 495 grams, although it isn’t that small, measuring 266x172x6.9 mm.

Hardware and operating systems

The Google Nexus 10 is powered by a 1.7 GHz dual core Cortex A15 processor, and the device is equipped with an Exynos 5250 chipset. There are two available variants of internal memories: 16GB and 32GB, but you can’t expand them.

The Sony Xperia Tablet Z has a weaker “heart” – a 1.5GHz quad core processor, but the device comes with a Qualcomm Snapdragon APQ8064 chipset. You can choose one of the two variants of internal memories of 16GB, respectively 32GB, which you can expand by up to 64 GB.

Both tablets are Androids and have 2GB RAM.


The Google Nexus 10 has a 5 MP primary camera (auto focus + LED flash) and a 1.9 Mp secondary camera. The Sony Xperia Tablet Z is a winner in this category, because it has an 8.1 MP primary camera (auto focus). The secondary camera is also more advanced, of 2.2 MP.


The Google Nexus 10’s non-removable Li-Po battery lasts 9 hours, although it has a capacity of 9000 mAh. The Sony Xperia Tablet Z’s non-removable Li-Po battery lasts 10 hours, but it has a lower capacity of 6000 mAh.


The Google Nexus 10 16GB variant can be bought from at the price of 33 dollars, while the 32 GB variant costs 390 dollars. The Sony Xperia Tablet Z 16GB variant with Wi-Fi has the price of 448 dollars and the 32 GB variant costs 560 dollars.
