Benefits and Differences
The worldwide release of Xperia Z2 is also still rolling out, though it was officially announced in February 2014. The ZL2 has first been released in Japan and it is a variant of the Z2, though it lacks water-resistant features. Both the phones share some common specifications, though there are certain variations. The overall form of the ZL2 is smaller than the Z2. The Z2 has a 7% bigger battery storage capacity, an aluminum frame and is slimmer. The ZL2 has the advantage of slimmer bezels and an internal storage option of 32GB. The main difference between the two phones, the Sony Xperia Z2 and the ZL2, is the display. The ZL2 has a 5 inches full high definition display. This is handier when compared to the 5.2 inches of the Z2. Just as the Xperia ZL had been announced very soon after the release of the Xperia Z, the ZL2 also follows a few months after the flagship phone Xperia Z2.
As was expected, the ZL2 is mostly based on the Z2. When you compare the size of the two phones, the ZL2 is a little smaller than the Z2, which is longer and also wider. However, the ZL2 is thicker and also heavier. The screen size of the ZL2 is also lesser. It also does not have the water resistance and dust resistance features with IP58, which is present in the Z2. The ZL2 is available in three colors, the black, the white and the turquoise. However, Sony remains quiet regarding the price as also the exact release date internationally. The Z2 is priced at around $1000.
At present, the ZL2 has only been announced for sale in Japan, but Sony Mobile often releases a device in its home territory and only later rolls it out in the global market. Hence, the ZL2 could very well come to other countries very soon. The unveiling of the new device, ZL2, shows that most of the technical specifications are inherited from the flagship device of the year, the Z2. However, these specs and features have been put in a more compact form.
