Install Android L on Nexus 5 and Nexus 7
Although currently only available in a developer preview version, if you are curious, you can install Android L on Nexus 5 and Nexus 7.
In the annual conference Google I/O, which took place yesterday in San Francisco, Mountain View giant has detailed the new operating system named Android L. It includes a mix of new items on the interface that culminates with a new design language named Material Design. The notification has also been revolutionized to include many types of interaction, depending on the importance of the displayed message.
The bad news is that Android L, the final version will be available in a few months. The good part is that you can experience it from today, if you have a Nexus 5 or a Nexus 7 WiFi May 2013. In theory, these versions of the operating system created by Google are dedicated to app developers, but will not prevent anyone to install it. The only thing you need to note is that you may lose all data stored on your phone, so that a previously created backup is required.
Unlike Apple, where if you want to experience a beta version of iOS you need to create a developer account, at Google there are no such limitations. Simply download beta images with device’s firmware and install them on your device in a few steps. If you are disappointed with the experience provided by these preview versions of the firmware, you can always revert to earlier stable version.
