Sony Xperia Z1 Compact vs. Sony Xperia Z2 – Features and Specs Comparison
Sony had made a mark in the mobile industry with the release of its Xperia Z1 in the high-end segment.
This smartphone had given the devices of other companies, a run for their money. However, the Company just took it a step further, with the release of the Xperia Z2 smartphone. The compact version of the Xperia Z1, the Sony Xperia Z1 Compact, has its presence felt in the market. The Xperia Z2 would be replacing the Xperia Z1. The rumor goes that the company would start working on the features of the Xperia Z2 shortly.
Some users did not comfortably handle the 5 inches display screen of the Xperia Z1. This gave way to the release of Xperia Z1 Compact. The device feels better in the hand, with its 4.3 inches display screen. The device comes with a pixel density of 342-ppi catering the user with a detailed viewing experience. As expected, the Xperia Z2 comes equipped with a 5.2 inches display with a superior resolution and higher pixel density of 424-ppi.
Both the devices come equipped with a full HD display, providing an exceptional contrast ratio. Despite the two smartphones making use of similar technology, the Z2 offers significant modifications to render it more superior.
The earlier released variants of the Company complained of no memory enhancement card slot. However, the problem was rectified with the release of Z1 Compact and Z2 smartphones. The Z1 Compact and the Z2 both come with memory enhancement card slots but it is the latter that has the option of expanding memory up to 128GB. In comparison, the Z1 Compact supports a 64GB external storage capacity, which we believe, should be adequate for a good number of users.
In the RAM department, the Z2 leads the way. The device not only has a better RAM than the Z1 Compact but also more than many high-end smartphones available in the market. The Z2 comes equipped with 3GB of RAM in comparison to the 2GB RAM of the Z1 Compact.
Both these devices come equipped with a massive 20.7MP camera, similar to that of their predecessor, the Xperia Z1. The size of the sensor is also the same on both the devices. However, the Z2 comes with extra features such as 4K video shooting. The Z2 also comes with a better 2.2MP front camera in comparison to the 2MP camera of the Z1 Compact.
The Z1 Compact is priced at $450 in comparison to the $701 price of the Xperia Z2 smartphone.
