The Nokia X2 was rumored to hit the market in the month of June, which didn’t happen (we have to be fair, the company did not make any statements about that release date). We’re still expecting this handset to be released, while it has already been released in Pakistan and Russia. Blackberry Z3 is another very nice smartphone with a relatively affordable price which was recently released. Today we’re comparing the two devices to help our readers make the best decision between the two.
Display, Exterior and Size
The display seen on the Nokia X2 is an IPS LCD model measuring 4.3 inches that can render a screen resolution of 480 x 800 pixels. The pixel density sits at 217 pixels per inch. The handset weighs 150 grams and it is 0.44 inches thick. As for display, we see the same design we saw on other Nokia X devices but with a new translucent layer which gives the smartphone a glossy look. What we like about the Nokia X2 is that it has ClearBlack polarization technology – which helps with outdoor visualizing. Anand Tech says about this technology: “It can make a mediocre display look OK, and a good display look great, at least in my experience.”
The display seen on the Blackberry Z3 is a larger 5 inches IPS LCD model that can render a screen resolution of 540 x 960 pixels. The pixel density is slightly superior to its counterpart: 220 pixels per inch. This device is heavier, weighing 164 grams but surprisingly thinner than the Nokia X2: 0.36 inches thick. Regarding display, the handset comes with textured plastic which gives it a rubberized feel. Also, it comes with smooth glass that doesn’t have that much bezel space around the display. NDTV says about this smartphone: “the Z3 is ridiculously good looking and its construction quality is impeccable.”
Hardware, Software and Memory
The processor that powers the Nokia X2 is a Cortex A7: dual core working at 1.2 GHz paired up with a Snapdragon 200 chipset from Qualcomm. The handset supports 1 GB of RAM and 4 GB of internal storage capacity (if you choose to use a microSD card, you can expand this memory by up to 32 GB). The operating system the Nokia X2 runs on is Android 4.3 Jelly Bean + Nokia X 2.0 UI.
The processor that powers the Blackberry Z3 is also a dual core working at 1.2 GHz but this one is paired up with a slightly better chipset: Snapdragon 400 from Qualcomm. This device comes with 1.5 GB of RAM and 8 GB of internal memory (this device also comes with a microSD card slot – meaning you can expand the memory by up to 32 GB). The operating system the Blackberry Z3 runs on is BlackBerry 10.2.1.
Camera and Battery
Regarding the primary camera, we can see that both devices come with a 5MP camera with features like LED flash. As for secondary camera, the Blackberry Z3 has the upper hand with a 1.1 MP camera, where as the Nokia X2 only has a VGA model.
Blackberry also gives its handset a better battery unit: the capacity on this battery is of 2500 mAh, while the one seen on the Nokia has 1800 mAh. Both batteries are Li-Ion models. The Z3 allows for a talking time of 15 hours, while the Nokia X2 allows 10 hours.
BlackBerry Z3: $279.99
Nokia X2 (Dual-Sim): $167.00 (6000 Rubles in Russia)
