These smartphones run on totally different operating systems but here and there they share some common features. The Lumia 1320 reminds us of the 1520, but it has extra awesome features. The Oppo Neo supports 3G and has a Dual SIM variant. The Nokia model came to the market in January and the Oppo Neo was released one month later. But we won’t spoil the surprise and tell you who one of these phones we favor.
Displays and sizes
Nokia’s smartphone is actually a phablet which features an IPS LCD Clear Black display with the size of 6inches, which is kind of uncommon for the Finish Company to make such massive phones. It would be great if the screen would support a higher resolution than 720x1280pixels and the pixel resolution is pretty low at 245ppi. The device is quite heavy as it weights 220grams, but it’s understandable because it’s big and thick. The dimensions of the Lumia 1320 are 164.2×85.9×9.8mm and the screen is protected by Corning Gorilla Glass 3.
The Oppo Neo has a much smaller display – 4.5inches, and it’s also IPS LCD, but it supports a lower resolution – 480x800pixels and the pixel density is only 207ppi. Disappointed? At least the phone is not that heavy, weighting 130grams, and its sizes are 132×65.8×9.2mm.
Hardware and OS
The Nokia handset hides under its hood a 1.7GHz dual core Krait 300 processor, based on a Qualcomm MSM8230AB Snapdragon 400 chipset (for the 3G model) / MSM8930AB Snapdragon 400 chipset (for the LTE model), and it uses an Adrebo 305GPU. It has 8GB of internal storage, expandable up to 64GB and it runs on the Microsoft Windows Phone 8 OS (upgradeable to v8.1) with 1GB of RAM.
The Oppo Neo comes with a simple dual core 1.3GHz processor, it has only 512MB of RAM and 4GB of built in storage – expandable up to 32GB and it runs on the Android 4.2.1 (Jelly Bean) OS. Disappointed again?
Not much to say about Oppo Neo’s primary camera, which has the resolution of 5MP and 2592x1944pixels and only one features – geo tagging. The device has also a 2MP secondary camera, while the Lumia 1320 has a VGA, but the Nokia handset has a rear camera of 5MP with lots of features: autofocus, LED flash, touch focus, 1/4” sensor size, geo tagging, touch focus and video recording at 1080p@30fps.
The Lumia 1320 has a non-removable Li-Ion 3400mAh battery (BV-4BW) which should provide up to 21 hours of talktime on 3G. The Oppo Neo has a Li-Ion 1900mAh battery, which is kind of low for an Android smartphone.
The Nokia handset is more expensive, being available on amazon.com at the price of 271 dollars. The Oppo Neo is popular in India, being priced at 163 dollars.
